If you wish to run the FCChat toolbar on mobile devices (iphone / Android / Blackberry / etc.), you must enable one or more of the display modes below.
FCChat will try to match the device with the best display mode available. For instance, if a particular device cannot run in mode 1, then it will attempt to run in mode 2. If it cannot run in mode 2, then it will run in mode 3.
Because it is a real time communication application, FCChat requires that the browser support either Flash or Websockets. Some mobile browsers currently lack support for either of these – most notably, the default android browser.
Mode 1: Resizable Chat Toolbar (for small screen devices).
2) Mode 2: Fixed, non resizable toolbar
The resizable chat toolbar, shown below, has been optimized for small screen devices. In order to enable this mode, set use_mobile_banner
to yes (or true) in the FCChat configuration. In this mode, the toolbar will automatically resize itself to fit in the available display window. This mode is available for small screen devices which have full fixed positioning support, such as iphone/ipod ios 6+, android 4+ phones, and blackberry 7+ phones.
Mode 3: Static (in page flow) non resizable toolbar (for older mobile devices)
The fixed toolbar, shown below, is similar to that which appears on desktop browsers, and may include the same contents. This toolbar will be sized according to the page size. There is an option to run a simplified version on small displays, and a full version on large displays. In order to enable this mode, set use_fixed_toolbar
to yes (or true) in the FCChat configuration. This mode is available for all devices (phones and tablets) which have full fixed positioning support, such as ios 6+, android 4+ and blackberry 7+ devices.
The static toolbar, shown below, is the same in appearance and content as the fixed toolbar above. The difference is that the static toolbar is embedded at the top of the page, and will scroll with the rest of the page. In order to enable this mode, set use_static_banner
to yes (or true) in the FCChat configuration. This mode is available for all mobile devices. It will only go into effect if modes 1 and 2 are not available (or enabled).
